KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The College of Tennessee is getting another ladies' b-ball mentor after it was reported that lead trainer Kellie Harper won't be returning next season.
Bad Habit Chancellor/Overseer of Games Danny White declared on Monday Harper had been terminated as lead trainer following five years in charge.
"After a careful survey of our ladies' b-ball program, I have informed Kellie we are rolling out an improvement in authority," said White. "Choices like these are never simple to make, particularly with somebody who has accomplished such a great deal for the Woman Vols as a three-time public hero understudy competitor.
Her affection and enthusiasm for Tennessee and the Woman Vols is the best in class. She has put a lot of serious energy into our program and genuinely has done her absolute best for Tennessee. I express gratitude toward Kellie for her stewardship of our ladies' ball program and wish her and Jon well in the following part of their lives."
A cross-country look for another mentor is supposed to promptly start.
"In the wake of looking for input from our understudy competitors, I will start a forceful pursuit cycle to find the following chief for our notable ladies' b-ball program," said White.
UT shared that during her experience as a lead trainer, she guided her groups to 16 postseason appearances (9 NCAA, 7 WNIT). She drove UT to consecutive NCAA Sweet 16s in 2021-22 and 2022-23.
Harper played for UT in school. As a lesser, she helped guide the Woman Vols to a 39-0 record and their third-consecutive public title.
